Meet Our Clinician

Emma Hunter

Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) (Honours)

Advanced Diploma of Arts (Classical Dance)

Emma is a certified and Ahpra registered Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with people to support their chosen activities of daily living through the use of manual muscle therapy services, specifically focusing on neuromuscular health and well-being.

With over 13 years of being on the receiving end of soft tissue occupational therapy services. Emma has first-hand experience of the benefits of maintaining a healthy muscular system. Throughout the demands of the day our bodies support us to achieve what we need to, have to and want to do. When we experience pain or discomfort that prevents us from engaging in our chosen activities, it can lead to physical and emotional distress.

Further to this, Emma is passionate about advocating to support dancers health and understands the importance of educating for safe dance practices, injury management, and prevention. By optimising the bodies ability to recover, dancers can continue to engage within their chosen sport and art no matter where it takes them in the future.

Emma's dance background started at the young age of 6 with Académie De La Classique, where she was exposed to Cecchetti and RAD methods of classical dance. Through dedication and hard work, she successfully completed all major exams, solidifying her foundation in ballet. Expanding her skills, Emma also trained in Jazz, Tap and Contemporary styles, adding range to her repertoire.

After completing her certificate III & IV in Dance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) it led her to move to Melbourne to pursue full-time study in 2007 at the National Theatre Ballet School, Melbourne, St Kilda. Emma graduated in 2009 with an Advanced Diploma of Arts (Classical Dance).

Emma’s career led her to work as an independent Artist with Vienna Festive Ballet in London, Melbourne Dance Theatre (now known as Victorian State Ballet) and was a founding company member of Melbourne City Ballet. Her career highlights have been performing at both the Adelaide and the Sydney Fringe Festivals, being a Ballet Mistress for the Melbourne City Youth Ballet, performing soloist roles in Carmen, Coppelia and being principal dancer during the Melbourne season of Placebo in ‘Grief’ and ‘Catharsis’.

Emma hung up her dancing shoes and retired from dance over 10 years ago to begin a career Managing Bloch Camberwell, Melbourne. Working within this environment provided her the ability to share her skills and knowledge with new ballet parents, full-time students, and teachers. Bloch instigated and developed Emma’s skills in the art of pointe shoe fitting which continued at Costume and Ballet Centre in Mt Hawthorn, on her return to Perth in 2018.

Emma hopes to bring all her Knowledge and vast experiences, passion and dedication together so that she may guide the next generation and give back to the dance community through her knew found passion of Soft Tissue Occupational Therapy.
